Types of Massages

Swedish Massage

The Swedish massage is the type that many people associate with a relaxing trip to the spa. This technique, which was originated around 1868 by a Dutch doctor named Johann Georg Mezger, is primarily designed to relieve tension and energize you.

Deep Tissue Massage

A type of massage in which the fingers, thumbs and elbows are used to release chronic muscle tension, using slow, deep strokes and friction; the therapist may work perpendicularly to the length of the fibres of the superficial muscles, with the intent of massaging muscle that lies underneath.

Sports/Stretch

Sports massage focuses on optimizing muscle, tendon, ligament and joint health in order to prevent sport injuries or promote healing after an injury has occurred. It is commonly used before or after sporting events, or during training. Our therapists are well trained in various massage therapy techniques including stretching techniques, which can be incorporated into a therapy session.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being. The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function.

We use YOUNG LIVING OILS and also available for purchase.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal Massage therapy addresses different needs through varying techniques.  Benefits can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.

Medical Massage

Medical massage is outcome-based massage, primarily the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem(s) the patient presents with a diagnosis and are administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the medical massage therapist with specific outcomes being the basis for treatment. It is also known as clinical massage or treatment massage.
